Ukraine confirmed for the first time that its troops entered the neighboring Russian region of Belgorod.
Ukrainian Forces have also been in parts of Russia’s Koursk region, eight months after a border-border invasion, although Russia has recaptured the lost area there.
On Tuesday, Russia’s Defense Ministry said it had intercepted and destroyed 23 Ukrainian drones over the Koursk and Belgorod regions overnight.

In his nocturnal video address, placed on X, the president of Ukraine Volodymyr zelenskyy Confirm for the first time that his troops were active in the Belgorod region in Russia because they want to protect the Ukrainian towns near the border.
He said Ukraine’s top commander, Oleksandr Syrskyi, reported “about the situation at the front, including our presence in the Kursk and Belgorod regions.”
“We continue to perform active operations in the border areas in the enemy field, and it is just – war must return to where it came from,” he said.
“The main objective remains the same: to protect our country and our communities in Sumy and Kharkiv regions as much as possible of the Russian occupant.”
Last month, he referred to ‘certain steps’ undertaken by Ukraine’s Army in Russia a bit below the Koursk region, which represents a presence in the Belgorod region.
Although this is the first official confirmation of Ukraine of his troops in Belgorod, the Russian military bloggers have reported fights over the past few days.
Mr. Zelenskyy also said that the operation of Russia’s recycling of Koursk had a specific goal over the past few weeks.
“Thanks to the entire Kursk operation -we have managed to alleviate the pressure on other parts of the front, especially in Donetsk region. It is absolutely important to destroy Russian equipment and all logistics used by the occupiers,” he said.

On Monday, the hometown of Mr. Zelenskyy funerals held for some of the 20 people, including nine children, killed by a Russian missile that hit apartment buildings and a playground.
More than 70 people were also wounded on Kryvyi Rih in the attack on Friday night.

According to Ukrainian military officials who placed on Telegram on Monday, Russian forces erected several attacks on towns around the eastern Ukrainian city of Pokrovovsk.
