The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, has visited troops in a frontline position near the city of Pokrovsk in the east region of Donetsk of Ukraine.
The trip was ahead of the high fire conversations on Monday in Saudi Arabia.
American negotiators will meet separately with Ukrainian and Russian delegations.
In shared videos on social networks on Saturday, Zelenskiy is seen giving medals to the soldiers and celebrating an informative session in a command post.
Pokrovsk has been a goal of Russian attacks since mid -2024.
While some Russian forces have advanced to positions to the southwest of the city, they have recently failed to obtain more territorial profits.
Donetsk’s complete capture remains one of Russia’s main military objectives in its large -scale invasion, now in its fourth year.
In September 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the annexation of the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhya, although Russian forces only partially control those areas.
Russia had previously attached Crimea in 2014.
In a recent meeting with business leaders, Putin warned that Moscow could claim additional Ukrainian territories.
Meanwhile, Putin is pressing the Ukrainians in Russia and in occupied territories in their country of origin to take Russian citizenship or live elsewhere, according to British intelligence on Saturday.
Putin signed a decree on Thursday that forces Ukrainian citizens who reside in the affected territories to “resolve their legal status” before September 10, or leave the area, the Ministry of Defense in London wrote in its latest intelligence update on the Ukraine War.
“Putin’s decree is almost certain that he intends to force the departure of the Ukrainian territory occupied by Russian of the Ukrainian citizens who refuse to accept Russian passports and citizenship,” said the report on X.
The Kremlin continues to pursue a policy of “rusification” on illegally occupied territory in Ukraine as part of the “long -standing efforts to remove the culture, identity and Ukrainian status,” he added.
