Gold says people can use background filters or a blurry tool if they want a little more separation between their private and professional lives. But ultimately, it is due to individual companies to assess whether the video call is the right tool to use.
“Think about how many generations are working at the moment, and for younger people, what do you do when you are dwarf? For us, we have a configured office space and you know, you can have a zoom, but you are in your room by balancing your laptop on your board to pass female?”
Griffiths says workplaces can mitigate some of the challenges by planning personal team days.
“Things like Zoom definitely have its place, but there must be some care to ensure that personal things still happen, especially for a totally remote company.
