A woman was killed and two other members of her family were seriously injured after a car that hit pedestrians outside a recreation park.
The incident with a Gray BMW 3 series took place at about 20.36 hours outside Crawley Leisure Park in West Sussex, Sussex police said.
A 25-year-old woman died in the collision, while her sister, 12, and their cousin, a 19-year-old woman, were seriously injured and taken to hospital.
According to police, a 33-year-old Crawley man was arrested at the scene on the suspicion that he caused death by dangerous driving and driving while being disabled by drugs.
He remains in police custody.
Chief Inspector James Davidson added in a statement: “Our thoughts are with the victims’ family at this difficult time and we ask that the public respect their right to privacy.
‘I want to reassure the community that we have quickly arrested a suspect in connection with this tragic incident, and our inquiries are underway to determine the exact circumstances.
