When talking about potential customers, Bill Bowler, general manager of Windsor Spitfires, is always very measured.

Bowler firmly believes that each player’s development schedule is different, and OHL draft day is not the time to announce someone’s star.
That being said, Bowler admitted he was happy with the club’s 15-time draft picks in the 15-round draft that ended Saturday’s two-day selection.

“You can make a list, but time will tell that,” Bowler said. “But after watching (these prospects have performed over the past season), I’ll say we’re really happy.”
Here is a brief overview of each of Windsor’s choices, with the important stats from last season being team, height, height, weight, game, goals, assists, points and free throw minutes, as well as comments from Bowler or Frank Evola, who is the director of Scitfires Scout Dogs and Hockey Operations for Spitfires.
Round 1 (21st overall) – John McLaughlin, Lambton Jr. 2-2-0-2-0.
“Johnny probably didn’t get an injury, it could have been a Big Ten draft pick, so we thought it was a first-round pick at night,” Evanra said in October when McLaughlin suffered a knee injury at the end of the season. “We see it as a steal in the draft. He knows how to play the game the right way.”
Round 2 (30th overall) – Ian Inskip, Mississauga stands for U16, left center, six feet two, 172 pounds, 33-17-11-28-30

“Big, left-handed center,” Bowler said. “The power forward can use his strength and skills and have a huge upside.”
Round 3 (Overall 45) – Ty Bergeron, Detroit Honey Noodles 15, left center, 6ft one, 180 lbs, 67-45-59-104-NA
“Courage, can do everything, big body, bite on his game,” Bowler said of Bergeron, who signed a tender with Muskegan next season. “Same goes for the point Getter. You just have to see how that body matures and develops, and the potential may be special.”
Round 4 (76th overall) – Jesse Debruyn, Huron – Perth Lakers U16, left back, six feet, 183 pounds, 30-7-8-15-2
“Unrated player,” Bowler said. “We think it’s a steal. Having a great first pass won’t complicate the game, bring everything, and keep his game calm and physically in place.”
Round 5 (102nd total) – Caden Harvey, Pittsburgh Penguin Elite 16U, Five Foot 11, 169 lbs, S48-47-48-95-26
“He’s an incoming player (first place in the older player last year), born in 2008 and scored nearly 100 points in U16,” Evanra said. “He brought the offense, right-hand shots, and there weren’t too many right shots in our roster. He can get into our roster and contribute next year.”

Round 6 (113th in total) – Kaden Rolling
“Puck moves the defensive player, it’s a really smooth skater,” Evanra said. “The game is bigger than his size and has made some contributions in terms of offense. It’s really possible to play the game as fast and as fast as the game. We love what he brings.”
Round 6 (114th in total) – Braden Horton, right wing, Shatak – St. Mary’s Saber 15, six feet, 178 pounds, 53-35-78-108-25
“It made a two-year commitment (two-year commitment) and had a little Tommy Wilson in him,” Evola said. “The right-hand score and perseverance.”
Round 7 (Overall 141) – Andrew Enright
“I think his qualities are similar to Thomas Stevenson,” Evola said of the former Spitfire defenseman at Windsor in 2017-20. “A full-time defender, good feet, good sticks, we’re seeing something there.”

Round 8 (Overall 152nd Edition) – Gunner Wolfe, goalkeeper, North Central Predator U16, Six-foot-three, 180 pounds, 20 games and 1.82 goals average.
“The Big Goalkeeper has performed very well and is one of the elite performers on a non-top team,” Bowler said. “Big Body and a lot of potential.”
Round 9 (Overall No. 181) – Davis Devonish
“The original, right-handed defender takes time to grow and develop, but be a solid trait with the right attitude,” Bowler said.
Round 11 (221 overall) – Hudson Cicchelli, goalkeeper, Toronto Jr.
“Continue to get better and better, being a gamer,” Evanra said. “Catched the ins rope that won the OHL Cup and was a top choice JRC team. Appeared on the ice at important moments and on the ice.”
Round 13 (Overall No. 249) – Luke St. John, left back, Windsor Jr.

“He has a lot of offense,” Evora said. “He’s tall and thin, and has something we like. He can really pull out the puck and a strong player. If he can work in the rest of the game, the door is open for him.”
Round 14 (278th in total) – Ty Dubreuil, Right Wing, North Bay Catcher U16, Five Foot 10, 161 lbs, 32-17-17-34-24
“The kids in the north are working hard and have some offensive talent,” Evola said. “We see some of these northern kids with this work ethic that can play a great role in our team at some point if everything is achieved.”
Round 15 (289th in total) – Jordan Maine, right back, Sun County Panthers U16, five feet eight feet, 172 lbs, 27-17-17-17-18-48
“One of that team,” Evora said. “Maybe ignored. A little hurt during the season, but encountered a lot of potential but still not reaching his ceiling.”
Round 15 (298th in total) – Jordan Street, right back, Ajax picks Raiders U16, five feet 10, 141 pounds, 32-10-10-18
“We’ve seen some of the ability and perseverance that we kind of want to bring here to Windsor,” Evola said.
