Windsor police seize drugs, weapons after finding man hiding in closet

A man found hiding in a closet faces numerous drug and weapons charges.

Windsor police officers were called to a house in the 800 block of Marentette Avenue around 7 p.m. Sunday to report a gunman.

When officers arrived, five people left the house and were temporarily detained when police searched the property.

Police said they found a man hiding in a bedroom closet, and a jagged semi-automatic shotgun with a defiled serial number, five 12-spinning shotgun cartridges and 16.7 grams of fentanyl.

The 49-year-old man is charged with possessing a banned firearm without a license, possessing a regulated firearm, possessing a firearm, and possessing ammunition, while prohibiting and violating firearm laws regarding storage, handover and transportation.

He also faces charges of possessing controlled substances for trafficking.

The man was also arrested on irrelevant charges.
