The Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation’s annual fundraiser requires residents to wear quirky and excellent headwear, and has raised over $50,000 in fundraisers so far, accounting for only half of its target.

With the remaining days of the health care campaign in the 16th Annual Hat, charities are encouraging people to donate to their ability to support patient care in the area.

Since its inception, it has raised over $650,000 for the Windsor Regional Hospital Program and Services for Healthcare Hats.

This year, the campaign will support the hospital’s cardiology program.

“This is a growing area in our community,” Verez said. “All the funds raised this year will help buy cardiology equipment.

“Making sure our medical team is able to use the right equipment is changing the game,” she said. Without some equipment purchased for various departments and funding is provided from the event, “we may have to send patients to other medical facilities.”
