What you can expect on your drive


With the official end of winter, we are now entering another season of GTA – Architecture.

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO)’s highway crew is in turn working on many 400 series highways.

This is a place where work is underway and is about to start working as the weather gets warmer.

What to expect from your drive now

Last week, lane restrictions began on the northbound highway 427 north of Highway 401, with traffic lowering from three lanes to two lanes. Staff are working on several bridges in the area.

Construction also began on Monday night on South Highway 427. Now, the same bridge work is done from Highway 409 to Airport Road.

Maintenance staff also established a building area on the 401 Eastbound Expressway at 410 Highway Express. Working on that swap, the lane has been reduced from three to two.

From Tuesday, allen Road heading eastward and Route 401 westward will be closed until the end of June Construction of Wilson Station. The southbound lanes near 401 have also been reduced to two lanes until the end of the year.

What happens to your driving later this spring

Last year, the westbound 401 Express lane was reduced from three lanes to two lanes between Big Road and Daphlin Street and down from four lanes to three lanes between Flynn and Highway 400.

What to expect from your driving later this spring

This summer, construction will be made between Winston Churchill Boulevard and Hurontario Street on the eastbound highway 403.

All of the above buildings are expected to last until the end of the year.
