Marine Le Pen Storm from court after she was banned from running in France’s presidential election in 2027, after being convicted of the darkening funds of the European Parliament.

The leader of the Right -wing National Rally (RN) was among party officials accused of deriving almost € 3m (£ 2.5m) from the European Parliament Funds to pay staff in France.

A judge granted the prosecutors’ request on Monday that Le Pen faces an immediate ban of five years of public office, regardless of any appeal process, using a so-called ‘preliminary execution’ measure.

Le Pen was fined € 100,000 (£ 82,635) and sentenced a four-year sentence to which two years will be a suspended sentence, and two more served under house arrest.

The ban of public office is in effect immediately. It is clear that the prison sentence and fine will not come into effect until Le Pen has exhausted her appeal against the judge’s judgment.
