A woman who forged the results of paternity test and lied to her ex -partner that he was the father of her child was spared the prison.
Beth Fernley, 26, told Ryan Hampson, 27, in April 2019 that she was pregnant and wasn’t sure who the baby’s father was, Liverpool Crown Court heard Tuesday.
Prosecutor Gareth Roberts told the court that his Mr. Hampson asked for £ 300 for a DNA test and then sent him a screenshot who she said was from Easdna and showed that there was a 99.9% probability that he was the father.

Fernley, from Warrington, pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation during a hearing last month.
Liverpool Judge Andrew Menary said: “It was a very horrible offense that had a profound effect on many people, including Mr. Hampson himself and also members of his extended family.
“Whether it started out of a kind of anxiety because you found pregnant with someone who was not your partner, or because you were eager to create some kind of perfect family, it is difficult for me to understand.”
The judge said when the police became involved, Fernley continued to deny that she lied in a “survival of sinister dishonesty”.
Fernley was sentenced to 13 months suspended for 18 months.
Judge Menary said: “You couldn’t have complained today if I sent you to jail immediately.”

Mr. Roberts said after showing the counterfeit DNA results, Mr. Hampson bought items for the unborn baby and resumed a relationship with Fernley, which he dated for four years before breaking up in early 2019.
He was at the birth of the baby, named on the birth certificate and bought a house with Fernley in 2020.
She later forged another letter claiming that the company made a mistake, and Mr. Hampson was not the father, the court heard.
When contacting the firm, he said they had no record of the tests.
Police were warned in July 2022 and Fernley was arrested.
Mr. Hampson read a statement to the court, saying that he felt “profound sadness, confusion and heart strings” after learning that the child, with whom he “formed a strong bond”, was not his.
He said, ‘My whole world has fallen apart.
‘The emotional pain of people who ask me [the child] is unbearable and it brings back waves of sadness and sadness that I cannot control. ‘
Defensive Tom Worsfold said Fernley showed insight into the impact of her crime.
He said: “She showed that she accepted that it was wrong of her, in her own words, to play God.”
Fernley was also ordered to participate in ten days of rehabilitation activity and undertook 200 hours of unpaid work.
She was also ordered to pay £ 300 compensation above a statutory surveillance.
