Vatican issues update on Pope Francis as he spends another night in hospital | World News


Pope Francis had a ‘tranquil night’ and now sits upright as he continues to treat pneumonia in both lungs, the Vatican said.

Pilgrims descended at Gemelli Hospital in Rome to be closer to Pope Francis.

“If a family has someone who is sick, it is very important that they are surrounded, it is necessary that everyone is close to them, and all the people of God are the pope nearby,” says Bishop Gerardo Villalonga, leading the group .

On Tuesday night, believers from Francis’s homeland gathered in the Argentine Church of Rome for a special mass.

The rector of the church, Rev. Fernando Laguna, said he hoped that the pope could feel the embrace of the community’s prayer of the hospital where he recovered.

“I can’t go to Gemelli, because for him to recover, he has to be isolated,” he said.

“I know that I embrace him and that he embraces me when I pray. And now I want to embrace the pope. ‘

Francis continued to work out of the hospital, and announced some important government decisions on Tuesday suggesting that he is doing essential work and looking forward.
