Val Kilmer ‘was in discussions to reprise his role as Batman before his death aged 65’

According to reports, Val Kilmer was in discussions to repeat his role as Batman before his death at the age of 65.

It is said that the Hollywood actor, who starred in the cape in ‘Batman Forever’, appeared in conversations to appear in ‘The Batman Part II’ with Robert Pattinson as an older version of The Dark Knight, hardened by battle.

Val, whose death in Los Angeles for complications linked to pneumonia after a long battle of throat cancer was announced on Tuesday (01.04.25), he had expressed interest in returning to the role, a fountain told Radarnoline.com.

The source said: “Val had talked about playing an older and broken version of Batman talking through a voice box in the movie.

“It is the type of nostalgia that franchise fans would have enjoyed, so you can see why movie bosses were eager to present it.”

The actor previously made a triumphant return to the big screen in 2022 when he repeated his role as Iceman in ‘Top Gun: Maverick’.

The character adapted to reflect the health struggles of Kilmer’s real life, using artificial intelligence to recreate his voice.

Experts told him to radar a similar approach that may have been considered for his proposed return of Batman in the next sequel, scheduled for his launch in 2027.

Val first assumed the role of Bruce Wayne in the 1995 film by Joel Schumacher ‘Batman Forever’, replacing Michael Keaton.

While the film was a box office success, he later described his time behind the mask as difficult, saying that the restrictive demand made it almost impossible to act.

Born in Los Angeles in 1959, Kilmer jumped to fame with a series of successful films in the eighties and ninety years. He obtained an international recognition such as Tom ‘Iceman’ Kazansky in the 1986 ‘Top Gun’ box office and then portrayed Jim Morrison in the 1991 Wildman Biographical Movie in ‘The Doors’.

He was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2015 and underwent extensive treatment, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy and a tracheotomy, which left him with permanent vocal damage. Despite being declared cancer free in 2016, he continued to face serious health challenges.

His daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, confirmed his death, saying that he died “peacefully, surrounded by loved ones.”

The actor is survived by Mercedes, 33, and his son, Jack, 29, whom he shared with his ex -wife, actress Joanne Whalley.

His last Instagram video saw him put a Batman mask and tell the camera: “I’m ready.”
