High quality studies have shown that fluoride prevents cavities and restores dental damage caused by bacteria in the mouth. Fluorus also replaces the minerals lost by the teeth due to the destruction of acid, according to the centers for the control and prevention of diseases.

Influential skeptics like the secretary of healthcare and human services Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., have long raised doubts about the benefits of fluoride.
