The United States government will identify the cause of autism for September of this year, says the Secretary of Health and Human Services of the United States Robert F Kennedy JR, establishing a deadline for an answer that has eluded scientists for decades.
Autism diagnoses in the United States have increased significantly since 2000, intensifying public concern.

Trump ordered in February the creation of a commission to “make America feel healthy” composed of Kennedy and other secretaries to see everything, from autism rates and asthma in children to the amount of medications prescribed for ADHD or other conditions.
“There must be something artificial to be doing this,” Trump told Kennedy at the meeting.
“There will not be a bigger press conference than when you can think of that answer.”
Scientists have been investigating for decades what genetic or environmental factors could contribute to autism, but the causes of most cases remain clear.
They say that the main drivers of the increase in US autism rates. They are an expanded definition that includes more types of behaviors and a more widespread awareness and diagnosis.
There may be multiple studies in course in autism, a neurological development condition that affects how a person’s brain works.
Kennedy has questioned in the past if routine childhood vaccines can be linked to autism.
The belief first won traction decades after the publication of defective studies that have since retired.
The value of decades of subsequent studies have not found a connection between vaccines and autism.
