The M25 was named the worst highway in a new study of AA members.
More than 13,000 members of the car association were asked for their views, with four out of the ten respondents stating that the London Orbital highway was the worst to drive.
“I am terrified by aggressive drivers changing several lanes with a velocity of the jobs, without indicating,” one driver said. ‘It feels like the national velocity restriction has been abandoned there. 80 km / h is not only acceptable, but essential and on average, ‘they finished.
Another respondent said that the road has “a weak surface and is very noisy in places”, while a third “holds certain connections, which were artificially caused by carboards for carboards” quoted as a source of frustration when used.
The 117 -mile road was officially opened in 1986 and carried about 200,000 vehicles every day, making it the busiest highway in the UK.
The M6 was second in the poll (21 percent), while the M1 – which connects London to Leeds – was third (13 percent).
One respondent described the M6, which runs from the Midlands to the border of Scotland/England, as “dangerous-all-time containers or accidents”.
A second added that there were ‘too many 50 mph stretches, which contributed the length of the trip’, plus’ many sections without [a] Hard shoulder that makes me uncomfortable ”.
Nine of the top 10 worst roads mentioned by drivers have converted divisions to controversial “smart” highways.
“Any smart highway scares me,” one respondent claims. “I count the mileage to the end and sigh a sigh of relief.”
And a third of the interrogators said congestion is weak on highways in the UK, while more than one in five (22 percent) said the condition of the British highway surfaces was weak.
“The M25 is notorious for its heavy traffic and regular delays,” says Jack Cousens, AA chief of road policy.
‘As one of the busiest highway in the country, it’s no surprise that drivers find it frustrating. Little wonder that Chris Rea declared that The Way to hell.
“It was told a lot that nine of the worst highways have” smart “highway,” he continued. “Managers had to endure years of works for the initial conversion, followed by even more misery to add the extra emergency areas. Most say they were little or any benefit from losing the hard shoulder, with many people claiming to have led to more accumulation.”
The news follows the survey of the independent watchdog transport focus in 2024, which named the M42 as England’s worst highway, with 44 percent of motorists finding it unsatisfactory.
According to one respondent, the road, which runs south and east of Birmingham, was characterized by ‘road works, potholes and delays’.
