On March 25, 2022, the Police was called to the unit of Mrs. Anderson in Mayfield, where they found the young mother bleeding out of her home.

She died in the place and Thompson, who was 22 years old at that time, was later accused of her murder and allegedly violated an avo.

Thompson had only been out of jail for two weeks at that time and was on probation for a previous national attack against Mrs. Anderson.

Mrs. Anderson’s mother, Tabitha Acret, told Nine on Tuesday that legislators needed to do more to protect women in Australia.

“A piece of paper is not going to do anything, an avo is not helped … my daughter was still killed with one,” he said.

The afflicted mother spoke with Newswire in 2023, almost a year after the tragedy, saying that she wanted her daughter to be remembered as a fighter.

“She fought very, very hard,” Mrs. Acret said.

The son of Mrs. Anderson, who was one at the time her mother was killed, will turn five in April.

“We will have to keep talking about this every year, as on Mother’s Day when you do not have someone to buy a gift,” Acret added.

Speaking to nine on Tuesday, Mrs. Acret reiterated her plea to implement a monitoring system that would send an alert if a potential perpetrator was in any marked suburbs.

“It is another consequence that could deter some people too … because avos really doesn’t work,” he told Newswire in 2023.

Thompson will face the sentence for murdering Mrs. Anderson at the end of April.
