Two vehicles are involved in the accident near Maramarua Golf Club, which was reported shortly before 4:30 pm on Friday.
Police said two people are in critical condition, with a third person in serious condition.

State highway 2 is still closed in both directions from 20h.
Drivers are advised to expect delays.
