President Donald Trump said America’s trade deficit with China must first be resolved before examining a deal on its extensive tariffs against the country.
“We have a trillion dollars’ trade deficit with China-Station billions a year we lose with China. And unless we solve this problem, I will not make a deal,” the president told Air Force Reporters on Sunday.
“I’m ready to deal with China now, but they have to solve their surplus. We have a huge problem with China. They have an excess of at least trillion a year. I think it’s like a trillion and I want to solve it,” Trump said.

The president also discussed the Tiktok deal with reporters, which is in Limbo, saying China did not approve of the deal due to the country’s tariffs.
“The report is that we had a deal – almost for Tiktok, not a deal, but quite close and then China changed the deal because of the tariffs. If I gave a little reduction in tariffs, it approved this deal for 15 minutes, which shows you the power of the tariffs,” Trump said.
