Trump is ‘surrendering to the Russians,’ Democratic Sen. Jack Reed says

In an interview on Sunday this week at ABC News, democratic senator Jack Reed has canceled President Donald Trump’s latest verbal attacks against Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski and increased his bringing with Russia.

“In essence, this is President Trump, who surrenders to the Russians,” Reed told Co-Kotva Martha Radac.

“It’s not a statesman or a diplomat,” Reed added. “This is just someone who admires Putin, does not believe in the struggle of Ukrainians and is committed to comforting to Autocrat.”

Reed said that the statements Trump has recently made for Ukraine are “generally misleading or completely false” and suggest that he has no “real intention to engage the Ukrainian government to find out what they need” in negotiations with Russia.

“I will be more confident in this proposal if there is an energetic dialogue between the Ukrainians and the United States with regard to these negotiations that we understood where their lines were, etc. This obviously did not happen,” he said.

In order to resolve the war in Ukraine, Reed said it would be crucial “to communicate with the Russians, that we will be very, very serious about their actions in Ukraine.”

“What we need to do is keep the pressure and then start negotiations – negotiations that will include Ukrainians, not turn off them.” He said, “And then with this pressure, I hope Putin will decide that the price is too big to continue that effort.”

Reporter Mike Lowler appeared on “this Week”, February 23, 2025.

Speaking to Radac later, Republican reporter Mike Lowler rammed Russian President Vladimir Putin as a “disgusting dictator and thug”, which “is clearly responsible for the war in Ukraine”, despite Trump’s fake claims in the week that Zelenski began the war S

“Russia, China and Iran are working in coordinated efforts to undermine and destabilize the United States, Europe, Israel and the Free World,” Lowler said. “They are not our allies or our friends – we must be clear about it.”

Lowler said he “disagreed with the President’s rhetoric for Volodimir Zelenski”, but also said Zeozerski “says the president is falling for Russian misinformation, does not help his cause.”

“What I would say is this, it is not clear that one of the two sides has this audience back and forth,” Lowler said. “I think President Zelenski has to work with the administration, especially in terms of economic cooperation.”
