A man and woman face charges after police accused them of being found by a stolen vehicle and crashed into a police cruiser to evade arrest.
Investigators said the Toronto Police Department Special Police Officer found a stolen 2021 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck located in the Dundas Street West and Dovercourt Road areas around 3:45 on Friday, April 11, 2025.
At the time, the official was using an automated license plate reader (ALPR) and was reminded that the pickup truck was reportedly stolen.
The officer called for a backup, and officers marked with police cars participated in the area and found the stolen truck while traffic was parked.
At that time, police said the driver intentionally crashed into the cruiser in an attempt to escape. It didn’t work, the suspects were packed, but police said they refused to exit the vehicle.
Officials were eventually able to delete it and they were all arrested.
Christopher Leonardo, 42, has no fixed address and faces more than six charges, including possession of property acquired for more than $5,000, dangerous car dangerous driving and driving when prohibited.
McKenzie Whiteman, 38, was charged with a crime of obtaining more than $5,000 in property without a fixed address.
