Tommy Robinson has lost an attempt to bring a challenge in the Supreme Court over his segregation.
Mr. Justice Chamberlain refused permission for the right -wing activist’s application for a judicial review after bringing legal action against Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood.
The Supreme Court said Robinson, 42, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, was moved to a ‘closed’ unit in Woodhill Prison, Milton Keynes, after Intelligence suggested that he would be killed by a lifelong if it was located on a wing ‘.
He was Jail for 18 months Last October after acknowledging ten violations of an order of the Supreme Court, which forbade him from repeating false claims about a Syrian refugee.
Robinson was initially taken to Belmarsh prison where he told staff of “his conflict with followers of Islam”, but was moved to Woodhill after a large number of abusive and racist email and telephone calls received from his supporters, “according to the verdict.
This includes ‘threats to the governor’, Jenny Louis, who is a black woman, the judge said.
Robinson’s advocates argued His segregation was a violation of his rights under the European Convention on Human Rights and caused a ‘clear decline in his mental health’.
His lawyer Alisdair Williamson KC said the ‘significant Muslim population’ in Woodhill ’caused a difficulty and argued that he should move to another jail, where he could identify with other prisoners before his release on July 26.
He said Robinson, whom he described as a journalist, suffered from ADHD and complicated post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which was only caused by his seclusion during an earlier imprisonment.
Mr. Williamson said Robinson was concerned about his mental health during his release, because he “abused self -damage by substances to cope with the tension caused by seclusion”.
But Tom Cross, who represents the government, said it was “not a debatable claim” and revealed details of the privileges that Robinson, a civil prisoner of category C, enjoyed behind bars.
Hundreds of e -mail, dozens of visits and 1,250 phone calls
Prison – Governor Nicola Marfleet said in a statement that he took three hours out of his cell every day – when he could practice, use the gym or play recreational games like pool – and another 2 hours and 45 minutes three times a week when working and decorating.
She said he could take “” significantly more visiting time than any other prisoner “, with two hours, four times a week, in a room described as” more informal and comfortable “, where he can take food he bought from the canteen.
Robinson has 120 people on his visitor list and had 93 visits, while he can use the phone for four hours a day and made more than 1.250 social calls.
He has a television, laptop -on which he receives e -mail ‘in their hundreds’ -a CD player and a DVD player in his cell, the court heard.
Robinson, who is a civil prisoner in category C, also attends a weekly biblical session and holds daily visits from a member of the Chaplaincy team and daily visits from an NHS doctor or nurse.
In written submissions, the judge said Robinson was blessed on the first day of his sentence in Belmarsh Prison, Southeast London, after saying that he was in conflict with followers of Islam.
He was transferred to Woodhill, where he was identified as “high importance” for other prisoners and was placed in a closed wing in the back of the segregation unit, which cannot be obtained by other prisoners.
Intelligence reports suggested that two other prisoners were planning to attack Robinson to get “kudu and notoriety”, and that he had a “mark on his head” and “killed by a lifelong if he is located on a wing, according to the submissions.
