RNZ understands that the death of a British couple in Roseneath’s suburb, Wellington, is being treated as a suspect of murder.
Police said earlier that they were not looking for anyone else on the deaths, and they would be referred to the coroner.
A worried family member asked the police to make a well -being of the Pallliser Road property occupants around 10:25 pm on Monday.
Police forced the way and found two people dead.
“Police will continue to be present in the area while we work to understand the reasoning behind this tragic incident,” said Detective Haley Ryan.
“We would like to hear from anyone who may have information that can help our consultations, and anyone with residential CCTV who captures traffic movements in the Roseneath area, particularly on Pallliser road and neighboring streets, should contact us.”
The British couple fell in love with New Zealand and recently decided to settle here forever, says the neighbor.
Emma Prestidge moved with her husband Paul to the street in December. She said the couple next door, that she thought she was in the fifty house, was British and was boarding with the owner.
Prestidge said the man was living and working here in the science sector, and the woman was from side to side between New Zealand and London a few times, but settled here in December.
She said the woman was a teacher, but she wasn’t sure if she had already found work in New Zealand.
“My understanding is that they finally … They packed their lives in London, and all their things were in a remittance container, and they were kind of trying to move here forever,” she said.
“They were … In the next phase of their life, I think, and ready to prepare for the next part of their chapter, which is … truly sad.”
The couple was outdoors and fell in love with New Zealand, said Preset. They were thinking of moving to the center of Otago, which she understood that she would be closer to some of her adult children.
“They love wildlife … They simply loved space outdoors.
“You told me that you know in London she kind of feel a little insecure wherever it was.
“In New Zealand, she just felt … a sense of calm and just felt that she was able to really enjoy her life here.”
The couple was found dead on a property at Roseneath Road.

On the day the Hollymen moved, they found the woman while carrying boxes to their new home.
“She was absolutely adorable,” said Prestidge.
“I just thought, well, that lovely person, as if I was lucky to have them like neighbors.”
Prestidge met the wife’s husband and the owner of the property in his shared path a few days later, and they invited the Holder to dinner.
The Holidays ended up locking themselves out of the house and stayed late with their neighbors while waiting for a locksmith.
“They were just … very warm and inviting,” she said.
Prestidge had no idea what had happened and said he was shocked to learn of his deaths.
“They didn’t look like a couple who would have any problems with each other or something,” she said.
“And definitely, their relationship with [their landlord] It was really … one of deep friendship, I would say. “
His deaths were a tragedy, she said.
“These people … can contribute a lot to New Zealand, and they are the kind of person you dream of having as neighbors.
“It is certainly a loss.”
