The Tropical Alfred cyclone could have known as Cyclone Anthony, before a change of the Meteorology Office (BOM).
The office maintains an approved list of literacy names for cyclones, divided into five sections.
After Zelia finished the previous section of the list, the next scheduled name was Anthony before birth
“When a name coincides with a prominent person of the time, we reorder the next name starting with that same letter to avoid any confusion,” said a Bom A spokesman AAP.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was asked about the B105 Brisbane radio station on Wednesday if he had any role in the name change.
“No, look, the names of these things are beyond … My government did not legislated in any of those things. I think they simply go through a variety of names,” said Albanese.
After a discussion about the possible confusion that could be caused when the media is frequently addressed during a natural disaster, Albanese added: “It makes sense.”
Anthony’s name has been pushed below on the list, scheduled to use 41 cyclones after Alfred.

The birth adopted a policy for the appointment of cyclones in 1963, only using women’s names until 1975.
The list of names is approved by neighboring countries within the World Organization of the Regional Meteorological Organization Tropical Cyclones Committees to avoid duplication and retain names if cyclones move through borders.
Another name change can be in the future with the next name selected for the letter P that is PETA, with an identical pronunciation to the opposition leader Peter Dutton.
