A high school student has been accused of murder in the fatal stabbing of another student on the Texas track, police said.
The incident happened Wednesday morning at the Frisco Independent School Stadium during the track and field championship, with the participation of numerous schools in the district.
“The memory between two students has led to the other’s stabbing,” the Frisco Police Department said in a press release.

Despite the rescue measures by police and fire staff, the 17-year-old victim has died, police said.
FRISCO ISD identifies the victim as Austin Metcalfe, an eleventh -grader at the Frisco Memorial High School, who participates in Track and Football, in an email sent to the school community.
The suspect in puncture is in custody, police said. Carmelo Anthony, a 17-year-old, student at the Frisco Centennial High School, has been charged with a first-degree murder, police said. According to police, no connection has been defined yet. It is unclear if he had a lawyer at the time.

The Frisco Police Department has said it collaborating with Frisco ISD and “will continue to provide any support they need during this incredibly difficult moment.”
“The Frisco Police Department is sorrow with all those affected by this devastating loss and expands its deepest condolences to the family, students and employees of the victim who experience unimaginable pain,” the department said.
A spokesman for the Frisco Police Department said no further details were being published at the time.

FRISCO ISD called the incident “unprecedented situation” in an email sent to the high schools that attended the track meeting.
“Frisco isd shares with the grief of everyone affected by this heartbreaking loss, and we are expanding our deepest sympathy for the victim’s family, students, employees and our community during this difficult time,” the area said.
The Memorial High School will recognize Metcalfe’s death during a school on Thursday and will offer support throughout the day, the area said.
The incident happened around 10 am local time, police said. The district runway championships and the 11-5A field was held at the David Kuikendal Stadium at FRISCO ISD, according to the calendar of the school neighborhood.
The Interholastic League of Texas said it was “deeply saddened by the tragic incident that took place” at the track meeting.
“The UIL staff is in communication with district officers to provide support and assistance during this time,” the league said. “Our thoughts come out to those affected.”
