Ufuk Talay hopes to have an answer about the future of Adrian Sececic sooner rather than later with the ongoing conversations to determine if the talented game creator will remain in the Sydney FC beyond this season.
Segecic has been the star of the Sydney campaign in the A-League champions League of the A-League, scoring 17 goals in 32 games.
But the 20 -year -old is not signed beyond this season, which leads to fears that he can move away from Sydney at the end of this year without the Sky Blues receiving a transfer rate for one of the most brilliant Australian talents.
“I think there are still conversations within the club and if that is completed or not, I think we will discover it in a short time,” Talay said.
Segecic has done some of his best works as an impact submarine, but fought to have the same level of participation as the shock of ACL2 on Wednesday.
Sydney won the second section of his semifinal against Singapore Lion City Sailors 1-0 but lost 2-1 in aggregate.
Lion City did a good job to quell Segecic’s time to try his defense.
“When you play as a number 10, there are limited space and time, especially against a team that is very negative without the ball,” Talay said.
“You have to find those spaces, you may have to fall in front to receive the ball to get the players or sometimes you work on the back.
“So these are good moments of learning for our young players, and they can only improve when they are in this environment.”
Sydney’s attention is now addressed to the ALM with its place exceeding six years, far from ensuring.
With three remaining rounds, Sky Blues feels sixth, a point ahead of Adelaide and two ahead of MacArthur at Sunday’s local meeting with Newcastle.
What makes Sydney end of the season even more challenging, and puts his six hopes in potential danger, is the fact that they face two four best teams in Melbourne City and Western United to complete their campaign.
“For this we have to play,” Talay said.
“We are out of the AFC competition and with the A-League ahead we have three important games to consolidate a place among the top six.
“The boys will have to change their focus on the game against Newcastle on Sunday and we go from there.”
