The Department of Primary Industries said that the man was swimming in the surf Sandtrax surf in Port Beach in Northern Fremantle, about 15 kilometers southwest of the CDB, when the attack occurred around 2.30 pm (5.30 PM AEDT) today.
Witnesses in a nearby boat saw man asking for help and helped him return to the shore.
“We have just seen the type of foot there by stirring our arms,” said witness Elliot Kane.
“We have hit it, we put it in the back, on the back of the boat.
“And yes, I was a little surprised, and not really something good to see here on the beach. But what can you do about it?”
The men in the boat said they later informed the incident to the authorities. That report of a bite of a 1.5 -meter tiger shark arrived approximately one hour after the attack, which caused warnings to the spectators.
They were told to swimmers to take additional warning in the area surrounding Port Beach and closed “beach” signs were placed in the area.
The condition of the swimmer is unknown.
