Stephen Graham almost broke Leonardo DiCaprio’s leg with a golf cart.
The 51 -year -old actor starred with the star ‘Titanic’ in ‘Gangs of New York’ of 2002 and, although he was excited to put himself behind the wheel of the vehicle, which his co -star had been using to move around the vast set in Cinecitta studies in Rome, Italy, he quickly found difficulties when he approached a “great hill.”
He explained in ‘The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon’: “Leo used to drive a golf cart, you know, the way they drive golf carts in large sets and things. So I asked for a chance; I thought, ‘Can I go to the golf cart?’
“And he said: ‘Uh … yes, it’s fine.’
“And golf cars are not so fast, right? But going downhill, they are.”
The couple and their co -star Alec McCowen, who was sitting in the rear seat, approached the injuries when the rear wheels were blocked when Stephen put the car in reverse while traveling at speed.
“I knocked him down … we were like ‘the flintstones’; basically.
“Suddenly, do you know how when you hit a reverse golf cart and take your time? Well, if you reverse it when you go quite fast, the rear wheels are blocked.
“Then, when the rear wheels are blocked, I have turned it, and when I have turned it, everything has begun to fall.
“But a golf car that falls is a kind of slow camera in itself, so it is falling very slowly.
“He is looking at me and goes: ‘What the hell?’
“And the next minute, while falling, it seems that the leg will break.
“[He] I just managed to get out of the way. “
The terrible experience caused Stephen to be marked as “an animal”, as well as win a nickname that has been left with him since then.
The ‘adolescence’ actor added: “Then Alec, who is a lovely boy … [tells me]’You are an animal!’ “
“And so my nickname became Ani.”
