A state of emergency was issued in New York while brushing livestock through the stretch of Long Island and near Brooklyn.
Firefighters are struggling with the flames with helicopters of the national guard who provide air support, according to New York Governor Kathy Hochul.
The flames are fed by high winds that put thick smoke in the air and caused the evacuation of a military base and the closure of a large highway.
Governor Hochul said emergency workers respond to the fires around the Pine Barrens, a wooded area that is home to commuting villages east of New York City.
“It’s still out of control,” she told Long Island TV Station News 12.
“We see that people from the Westhampton area need to be evacuated.”
About the same time when videos began to appear on social media, the city of Southampton issued a warning against the start of recreational fires due to the wildfire risk.
“Be careful to handle possible sources of inflammatory, including machinery, cigarettes and matches,” the weather service warned.
“Any fires on fire will have the potential to spread quickly.”

NASA satellite data showed that fire and smoke stretch about 2.5 miles along Sunrise Highway, a passage on the east of Long Island.
Governor Hochul said homes, a chemical factory and an Amazon warehouse are at risk.
Video on social media has shown that smoke falls from a fire near the Belt Parkway by Brooklyn.
The cause of the fires is currently unknown.
There were no reports about injuries.
