‘Sour taste’ in Conners’s mouth after top-10 Masters finish

Augusta, Ga. – Many Canadian golf fans are proud to have a Canadian in the final group stage of Sunday in the Masters. Corey Conners is not among them.

“Now, it’s the sour taste in my mouth,” Connors, who is ranked fourth in his career at Augusta National, said. “It’s not the Sunday I certainly hoped. I just didn’t get the ball holes and didn’t score the same as I wanted.”

Conners Day competes in the second match with Patrick Reed, starting with a confusing missing pairing putt pole.

The 33-year-old Achilles heels have long been his putt, but his green work has been impressive since switching to a new putt last month. However, after only three shots this week, only three shots to three rounds, Connors won three more games on Sunday’s way over 75, tied for eighth place at the age of 5.

“The sting today,” he said. “It’s hard to shoot a lot of positive speeds out of the course with 3 points. But overall I’ve definitely done a lot of things that I’m happy about and can get into the summer.

“Yes, the tough way to end the game puts myself in a good position. But once I can reflect, I can still get a lot of positive things from the week.”

Nick Taylor is the only Canadian to advance. After nine consecutive major championship cuts, the five PGA Tour champions finally broke the curse, but ended with the third time to 40th place.

Taylor Pendrith and Mike Weir missed the layoffs.
