Six men were treated in hospital after a major fire broke out on an industrial estate in Northern Lanarkshire, police said in police.

The men are between 20 and 66 years old and none of their injuries are described as life -threatening.

Emergency services “are likely to remain on the scene for some time as the incident stays.

SFRS spokesman said they were called at fire at 14.35 hours, and when two fire trucks arrived, firefighters found a ‘single-storey building well’.

“Four more devices were mobilized at the scene. Six casualties were transferred in the care of the Scottish ambulance service, and firefighting staff continued to be attended.”

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said five people went to Glassgow Royal Infirmary and one to University Hospital Monklands.

An investigation will be conducted over time to determine the cause of the fire, Sergeant Anderson said.
