Emergency services are responding to an accident in which several people were seriously injured.
Two vehicles fell on State Highway 5 road, near the Rangitaiki school road, Taupō district, around 10:30 am.
The helicopters are more than carrying patients, police said.
The road is blocked and drivers are advised to expect delays.
