Seven people were taken to hospital after a fire at a home in Renfrewshire.

Eight houses were evacuated after emergency personnel were called to the flames at about 23:00 on Sunday at Paisley’s Barterholm Road.

The Scottish Ambulance Service mobilized seven ambulances, three special operational reaction teams, two paramedics, a paramedic for critical care and a trauma team.

According to the service, seven patients were taken to hospital and two were treated at the scene.

A spokesman said: “Three patients were transported to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, two patients were transported to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and two patients were taken to Royal Alexandra Hospital.”

Police Scotland said they are trying to determine the cause of the fire.

A spokesman for the power said: ‘Eight properties were evacuated as a precaution, and alternative accommodation was arranged.

“Inquiries are underway to determine the cause of the fire.”

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was contacted for comment.
