The United States has discovered and tracked Russian military aircraft that entered the air defense identification area outside Alaska on Monday, the US military reported.

ADIZ is an area that extends 150 miles from the US, where the United States requires planes to have their transponders or identify.

“This Russian activity in Alaska Adiz is regularly found and is not seen as a threat,” said aerospace defense command in North America in a press release.

There was no Norad interception on Monday, the military said, adding that Norad was tracking the plane as they flew through Adis without entering us or Canadian airspace.

The territorial airspace of the United States and Water starts 12 nautical miles from the coastline.
