Russia launches missile strike on Ukraine with explosions reported in Kyiv

London – A Russian missile strike killed at least one person in the Ukrainian capital Kiev in the early hours of Sunday, according to Mayor Vitaly Klitschko, as Moscow continued an intensive period of long-range attacks against Ukrainian cities.

The Ukraine Air Force reports 23 missiles and 109 punch drones fired overnight, of which 13 rockets and 40 drones were removed, with another 53 drones being lost on flight without causing damage.

Damage in the Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy and Mykolaiv districts have been reported, the Air Force reported.

In the capital, Klitschko said one man was killed and three people were injured as fires erupted in “non -residential buildings”. An office building was also partially destroyed, he said.

Andry Jermak, the head of President Volodimir Zelenski’s cabinet, writes in Telegram: “Russia increases the intensity of attacks and obviously does not want to stop the fire, does not want peace. He wants to kill Ukrainians, our children.”

Zelenski said the strike proved that “the pressure on Russia is still not enough.”

“Such attacks are Putin’s answer to all international diplomatic efforts,” Zelenski said in a statement published in Telegram. “There can be no relief of pressure. It is worth focusing all the strength to guarantee security and bring peace closer.”

Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense said its forces had removed 11 Ukrainian drones overnight in three Russian regions.

Both sides continue long -range attacks, as negotiations to end the US fire continue. Last month, both Kiev and Moscow said they agreed to freeze the blows to energy infrastructure and the final attacks in the Black Sea.

Since then, both parties have accused the other of repeatedly violating the pause agreement against energy infrastructure.

Ukraine also accused Russia of deliberately targeting civilians in large strikes in the last week. On Friday, a Russian ballistic rocket and a drone attack against the city of Krivi Rich – the hometown of Zelenski – killed 19 people, including nine children.

“Yes, the war has to end,” Zelenski wrote in a statement on Saturday morning. “But in order to end it, we should not be afraid to call the peak peak. We should not be afraid to put pressure on the only one that continues this war and ignores all the suggestions of the world to end it.”
