New Zealand’s Red Cross apologized after an attempt to overtake a team member in a brand car was captured on the camera.
Filming posted on social media showed red brand hatchback driving on the wrong side of the road, forcing the approaching traffic on the shoulder before pulling behind the vehicle in front of the appropriate track.
New Zealand’s Red Cross confirmed that the attempted overtaking occurred around 4 pm Thursday, near Nelson.
They also said they were reported to the police.
Red Cross Secretary-General Sarah Stuart-Black said she was shocked by the shoot.
“We are conducting a complete investigation into the incident according to our employment policies, our safe driver policy and our code of conduct. The driver is fully cooperating with the investigation,” she said.
“This behavior does not align with our values, and we apologize to all those involved in the incident or are concerned about it.”
The team member is not allowed to drive Red Cross vehicles while the internal investigation occurs.
Those on social media have been horrified by the direction, with some calling “absolutely disgusting,” “unbelievable” and a “daily occurrence for us who drive the roads.”
