Quebec police said a 15-year-old girl died after falling after falling off a site in Shawinigan, northeastern Montreal.

The girl’s relative warned emergency services around 8:30 p.m. Friday as the victim fell into a silo at the former Bergo factory, a paper mill that has been closed since 2008.

Sergeant Frédéric Deshaies said two young men were walking on the factory site, climbing to the top of the silo and being trapped inside as the girl fell into the concrete and metal structure.

Local firefighters in Sevinegan, about 165 kilometers from Montreal, conducted a restricted space rescue operation by his colleagues near Trois-Rivières.

The coroner will investigate her death. The boy who accompanied her was not injured.
