Province announces $8.5 million for rural utility programs

This year’s budget includes $1.6 million for heating allowance programs in remote areas, which provide direct economic relief to more than 2,000 families, most of which come from indigenous communities. It said the funds help pay for the high costs of alternative heating fuels, such as heating oil and propane.
