Police watchdog says the investigation into the police handling of the missing person reports after an accident in Cardiff who left three young people was ‘close to the closure’.
The Independent Police behavior office (IOPC) says the investigation into the incident in March 2023 was ‘complex’ and ‘resource -intensive’.
Manager Rafel Jeanne (24) and passengers Darcy Ross and Eve Smith, both 21, died in the accident in the St. Mellons area of the city on March 4th.

Sophie Russon20, and Shane Loughlin, 32, were both injured, but survived.
The vehicle – a Volkswagon -iguan – averted from a slide at 02:00 a roundabon closer before beating trees.
The five were only discovered until March 6 – about 46 hours after the accident occurred.
The IOPC conducted an investigation over the weekend how police handled the reports on missing persons.
In an update it said that it had interviews with eight Gwent police officersAll served with great notices on misconduct and misconduct.
“As part of our inquiries, we obtained relevant policing policies and procedures, including College of Policing Leading on Missing Persons and Risk Prosecutions, and checked and recorded more than 400 documents.
“We have collected almost 100 statements as part of our inquiries, and also review and analyze a significant amount of police airwaves, audio calls and body -deserted video.”
He added: “All this evidence was carefully assessed and is compiled in an overarching final report to help with the decision -making process.
“We are finalizing our investigation as quickly as possible while ensuring that it is comprehensive and thorough.
“Our thoughts and sympathy remain with the families and friends of the young people who have tragically lost their lives, those who were seriously injured, and all who were affected by this incident.”
