Prince Harry accused of ‘bullying and harassment at scale’ by head of Sentebale charity he founded

The head of a charity founded by Prince Harry accused the British royal of “bullying and harassment on scale” after leaving the organization earlier this week.

Dr Sophie Chandauka said Harry’s “Unleasing of the Sussex Machine” broke the relationship between the prince and the 540 people working for the Centebale charity, the youth-focused organization founded in 2006.

“The only reason I’m here … is because Prince Harry at some point authorized the release of a harmful news to the outside world without notifying me or my land directors, or my executive director,” Dr Chandauka said on Sky’s Sunday morning with Trevor Phillips.

‘And can you suggest what the attack has done for me, on me and the 540 individuals in the centebale organizations and their family?

“This is an example of harassment and bullying on scale.”

Earlier this week, Harry and Seeiso resigned as patrons of centebale in support of the trustees of the charity, who left the organization after a dispute with Dr Chandauka.

In a statement, they said they departed because the relationship between the trustees and Dr Chandauka “restored”.

But in the sharp rebuke of Dr Chandauka to the former patrons, she has the ‘unleashed of the Sussex machine’, which she described as the ‘PR machine that supports Prince Harry’s efforts’ against the charity and his employees.

When contacted by The independentPrince Harry’s representatives refused to formally comment on Dr. Chandauka’s demands. A source close to the former Trustees of Centebale charity told Sky News that Dr Chandauka’s allegations were “completely unfounded”.

In an interview with the Financial timesDr. Chandauka also criticized Harry for having a ‘toxic’ brand, describing it as the ‘number one risk’ facing the charity.

She has accused the princes of forcing a failure and then comes to the rescue, “adding:” The team has been solved that Six -Side Passion will live with or without you. ‘

Harry and Seeiso founded centebale in memory of their mothers. Princess Diana died in a car accident in Paris in 1997 and Seeiso’s mother, former Queen of Lesotho, passed away in 2003.

Centebale works in the South African African countries of Lesotho and Botswana and have begun to help young people affected by AIDS, after Harry spent part of a gap year at an orphanage in Lesotho for children whose parents died of the disease.

Dr Chandauca, a Zimbabwe-born and London-trained attorney who served in the charity council of Trustees between 2008 and 2014, was appointed chairman in 2023.

Over the past year, she said, her relationship with Centebale’s trustees and patrons deteriorated as she moved to move decision-making within the charity to its leaders in Southern Africa.

The form of the organization was “no longer suitable in a post-Black Lives Matter World”, she said, because funders asked for local guidance initiatives.

The British board began to feel “a loss of power and control and influence … oh my goodness, the Africans take over,” Dr Chandauka added.

In a statement earlier this week targeted at the patrons, Dr Chandauka said: ‘There are people in this world acting as if they are above the law and abuses people, and then play the victim card and use the press they despise to harm people who have the courage to challenge their behavior.

“Under the narrative and fiction of the victim who was syndicated to the press, is the story of a woman who dared to blow the whistle on issues of poor management, poor executive management, abuse of power, bullying, harassment, misogyno, misogynoir and the covering that arose.”
