At Paros, 13 people stranded in the storm were taken home by firefighters, but no one was injured or missing, while the authorities struggled to remove vehicles stranded by the muddy waters.

Almost the entire road network is very disrupted, shops near the coast are flooded, and boats and nets have been swept away, according to public broadcaster pea.

Mayor Costas Bizas of the island told the broadcaster: ‘All this disaster happened within two hours.

“Roads are damaged, and we need help with more machines so we can clean the streets.”

Mykonos mayor Christos Veronis told ER that he wanted a state of emergency to be declared on the island.
