Pope Francis expected to make appearance Sunday


London – Pope Francis is expected to make his first public appearance on Sunday as he was hospitalized in Rome more than five weeks ago.

Officials at Gemelli Hospital, where the 88-year-old Pope underwent treatment after being diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia, they said they were preparing for the Pope to appear in a window. He is expected to congratulate the crowd for a short time and offer a blessing.

The area near the hospital entrance is filled with people on Sunday morning. People also flooded on St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican, where they would be able to watch the Pope’s greetings through big television screens.

After Francis’ appearance at the hospital, he is expected to leave the facility by car and return to the Vatican.

The 88-year-old Ponif has been in stable condition in the last two weeks, according to the Vatican.
