A teacher at Kingsway School, a state -integrated Christian school in North Shore, in Auckland, was on license after a police investigation on aggression allegations.

Police said the investigation was in their early stages and they were talking to victims and witnesses involved.

Director Graeme Budler said the allegations concerned four students and related to “outdated disciplinary practices that do not align with the values of our school, vocational education standards or the New Zealand law.”

He said the school took the allegations of misconduct very seriously and followed the proper process, including the notification quickly from the appropriate authorities.

Budler said the teacher involved was placed on paid license and the school offered counseling support to all affected.

“We received a complaint on January 29 and stayed the teacher the same day to conduct our own investigation.

“After we understand the nature of the complaint in more detail, we follow our school policies and began to notify external agencies like the police, which was six business days later on February 7.”

Kingsway School had a junior campus in Silverdale and a senior campus in Red Beach on the Whangaparāoa Peninsula.
