Durham area police have issued an arrest warrant against a 41-year-old woman accused of kidnapping her child.

Police said in a press release Wednesday that the incident began investigating the incident in August 2024 when police received reports of kidnapping involving a five-year-old boy.

Police said a Canadian-wide arrest warrant has been issued for the mother who was wanted for a parent/guardianship order.

“Efforts are being made to retrieve the child from Colombia and to ensure he returns to Canada and his father safely,” police said.
