Ottawa – Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre has pledged to change the Conflict Act to force party leaders to disclose financial holdings within one month of the announcement of the candidate’s eligibility.
The promise comes after the opposition accused Liberal leader Mark Carney of exploiting loopholes in the bill, which could allow him to become prime minister and run for elections without revealing his financial interests and potential conflicts of interest.

According to the changes proposed by Poilievre, candidates must disclose any financial holdings to the Ethics Commissioner within a few days and sell them publicly within 60 days.
Poilievre will officially announce the policy at a press conference in Toronto this morning.
