A review was released after a hospital patient from Hillmorton died over the weekend.
Health New Zealand has provided few details of what happened, but in a statement, the general manager of the Canterbury Mental Health expert Vicki Dent confirmed that a Hillmorton patient died at Christchurch hospital over the weekend.
St. John was notified of an incident just before 9 pm on March 8.
A -void door said a person was taken to Christchurch hospital in a critical condition.
Rnz understands that the man died at Christchurch hospital the next day and was in prison at the time of the incident.
Denta said a review was being performed.
“We can confirm that one of our patients in Hillmorton died at Christchurch hospital over the weekend. Our sincere condolences are with their loved ones at this very difficult time.
“Death is before the coroner and we will help them in their investigations, as well as a review of serious independent events.”
