The PDR is often inaccessible during the wet station
The Department of Transportation and the main roads (TMR) continuously monitors the condition of the roads controlled by the state of Queensland to ensure that they are safe and capable of handling the growing demand for traffic.
A spokesman said that the path of development of the Peninsula remained inaccessible for heavy machinery due to the wet station of Northern Queensland.
“TMR will inspect the road and start the qualification and maintenance program at the end of April 2025, subject to climate and road conditions,” he said.
“We would like to thank Road users for their patience and urge them to conduct conditions in this wet climate.
“The Queensland government has committed $ 60 million for future stages of the Cape York region package (CyRP Stage 3). The 20 % contribution of the Queensland government to the next CyRP stage is subject to negotiation with the Australian government.
“TMR has begun planning and preconstruction work to determine the investment strategy for stage 3.”
