Quincy Jones was honored with a touching musical respect during the Oscars in 2025 on Sunday night.
Oprah Winfrey and Wupi Goldberg, co-stars in Jones’ 1985 film, The Color Purple, lead the Tribute the Legendary Music Producer, who died at the age of 91 in November 2024.

The holiday continued with a performance of Queen Latifa, which performed “The Lightness of the Road on the Road” from “The Wiz” in front of the Oscars audience.

Prior to the ceremony, executive producer and showroom, Raj Kapur, visualized the tribute to Jones at a press conference as “a beautiful moment in which we hope to raise the room that will celebrate the spirit of Quincy and all its grandeur.”
Jones was nominated for seven Oscars during his career, including three for the “color purple”. For this project, he won a nod in the categories of the best original score, the best original song for Miss Celie’s Blues (Sister) and the best photo.

Jones was awarded the 67th Awards of the Academy with the Humanitarian Award Jean Hersholt, which was presented to him by Oprah Winfrey. In his speech, accepting an Oscar, Jones said, “It’s nice to feel important. I think it may be a little more important to be kind.”
Jones received an honorary Oscar at the Governor Awards in 2024 just two weeks after his death. His children accepted the trophy on his behalf.
“He has so many friends in this room – probably in every room, if I’m honest,” said daughter Rashida Jones on stage before reading the speech her father prepared to read herself.
“His music has literally defined for a century by encompassing genres-jazz, disco, movie, pop, r& B, hip-hop, Parks and Recreation actress continued to say, now with her own words. “But the real thread in his music is that his music is in his love. It was his gift for us. “
