The fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen has overcome an ankle injury to give Melbourne’s background a very necessary impulse while preparing to face San Jorge Illawarra on Saturday.

The undefeated storm will address dragons without victories in the Jubilee Stadium without Dally M winner of the Jahrome Hughes (hand) or the Nick Meaney goal center (facial fracture), which have undergone surgery.

Papenhuyzen was injured his ankle at the end of his victory in the last round over Penrith, but did not require any straight and moved freely in his final training session before flying to Sydney, with coach Craig Bellamy saying he was ready to play.

“He (Papenhuyzen) has not done all the training this week, but he has done a little of that and did the last session we did and seemed to overcome that, so if he exceeds today it will be fine,” Bellamy said on Friday.

Grant Anderson has also overcome a knee injury against the Panthers to take the Meney T -shirt number 4, while the arms company Tyran Wishart will begin in the middle of the back for Hughes, who was a spectator in the training, although only one more match is expected to be lost.

“It was not a great ideal night for us in terms of injuries, losing a couple of really important players in our team, but it has been a long change, so we have had a lot of time to prepare and hopefully we have used that time,” said Bellamy.

“Wish (Wishart) has not played much in that position with us, so I hope this week has a little feeling of the boys who play around them and for them.”
