Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is recovering in the hospital of pneumonia and will miss two more games, the club announced.
This comes after the 47-year-old missed the team’s 4-1 win against Manchester United on Sunday due to illness.
The club said on Saturday that he was admitted to hospital after feeling bad for a number of days.
In a updated statement on Monday, Newcastle said: “The club is still expanding its best wishes and support to Eddie and his family as he continues with his recovery.
“Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones will lead the team against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa this week, with further updates to be communicated over time.”
In a statement, released via the club’s website, courts said: “A big thank you to everyone who is associated with Newcastle United and the wider football community for your messages and warm wishes. They meant a lot to me and my family.
“I also want to pay tribute to our incredible NHS and the hospital staff who treated me. I am very grateful for the specialist care I receive, and after a period of recovery, I look forward to being back as soon as possible.”
