New Watercare Head announced

Watercare has appointed current executive director Jamie Sinclair as the new head of the Auckland Council owned water concessionaire.

Sinclair was executive -chief of Ngāti Whātua ōrākei before entering water care in 2021.

The Executive Executive of Dave Chambers previously announced his intention to leave office until June 30, 2025.

His contract was extended to oversee the transition from Watercare under the replacement of the three waters of the government, the local water was well done.

Care Council President Geoff Hunt said Sinclair was a leadership figure in his process of becoming financially independent of the board.

“Jamie brings a vast experience in accounting and has a postgraduate degree in Environmental Management, preparing in a unique way for this role. Its broad business understanding and its exemplary leadership through current regulatory change and the related financial separation process demonstrated their exceptional capabilities.

“As water transits to operate as a totally regulated utility, Jamie’s leadership will be crucial. The organization faces significant tasks from now on until December, as we turn to operate in this new fully regulated environment, financially independent of the Council of Auckland. It is an exciting period of change to the organization and vision of Jamie will be instructed in Navating This.”

Hunt said a transition plan was being worked on and Sinclair’s start date will be confirmed soon.
